In Ulyanovsk, we started the Victory Day celebration by bringing the veterans of war to the Jewish Center. At the Jewish Center, the veterans were warmly greeted and comfortably seated.

The event began with various people recalling their memories of the war, afterwards a number of honorable people, including the Chief Rabbi of Ulyanovsk, Rabbi Yosef Marozov, offered the Veterans words of encouragement and gratitude. The children recited poems of remeberence, and our dance group “chaverot” performed before the crowd. We continued the celebration at our cafe, where songs were sung of the military years. Of course, lots of “L’chaims” were excitedly shared by all participants. The veterans received a gift bag consisting of a bottle of Kosher wine and some sweets.
