On May 16th, tens of members from our community met at the holy western wall for a once in a lifetime event: a chupa at the Kotel!

It was the Chupa of our beloved president Igor (Eliezer) and Rita (Ester Hadasa) Dabakarov!

For many years, Igor had a dream of having his Chupa at the Kotel. His dream finally came true! Of course, getting permission and finding a spot near the kotel was extremely tough, but thanks to Rabbi Berl Lazar, Cheif Rabbi of Russia, this was made possible.

The Chupa was led by Rabbi Lazar, who flew in from Moscow for this wedding! Igor and Rita’s family and friends, from Israel, Ulyanovsk, and America joined them for this special event.

After the Chupa, The bride and the groom went over to the western wall to make a special prayer. Following the prayer, the crowd of people began to dance.

The wedding ceremony was held in “Or Yehuda” in the traditional Buchari style, with Buchari musical instruments, dance and song. The crowd was extremely lively!

May this chupa be a the beginning of a continued trend of many Chupa’s in our community!
